We’ve a week jammed full of free activities for everyone so whether it’s a tasty cream tea or something more competitive we’re sure you’ll find something to enjoy. A special thanks this year to the year 7 students at Rawlins for their help in designing some of our logos.

Monday 12th August

Under 5’s Messy PlayRumble in the Jungle!
10am to 12pm for 0-4 year olds and their parents/grandparents/carers.
Venue: Christ Church, Rothley Road, Mountsorrel
We’re starting our week of activities off with a time of themed messy play. Our theme is ‘Rumble in the Jungle’ with a swamp, a mudbath, rainy season and other messy adventures in store! Everything will be at floor level to be accessible to all ages under 5.

Chips & Bingo
4:30pm to 7:00pm
Venue: Christ Church, Rothley Road, Mountsorrel
Lots of fun bingo for all the family. No charge, plenty of prizes with chips provided part way through. Doors open at 4:30pm. Eyes down at 4:45pm. Come early to be ready.

Tuesday 13th August

SEND Morning
10am to 12pm for children with additional needs and their parents/carers
Venue: Christ Church, Rothley Road, Mountsorrel
Sensory tent, messy play, sensory play, Lego, and board games . Refreshments including coffee/tea, cold drinks and snacks. Please bring anything your child or young person might ordinarily need during the morning.

Siblings are welcome – there will be different activities for them with our staff and volunteers in another room.

This event is limited to 20 participants and their parents/carers to ensure it does not become too busy and overwhelming for some participants. We will look at running 2 sessions if needed so please join the wait list if it is full.

Youth Nerf Event
2pm to 4pm for ages 10+
Venue: Mountsorrel Memorial Centre
What better way to spend an afternoon than to fire Nerf guns at your mates? The guys from Kidsnerf Parties will be bringing everything we need to have a great time, with various games on offer. If you have your own nerf gun which you would like to use you are welcome to bring it along, but you will need to be responsible for it yourself and may want to put your name on it. Otherwise there will be guns and foam bullets available to use on the day.
We’ll have a break half way through for a drink and there will be somewhere for parents to sit (with the possibility of joining in at the end if they wish) or they can enjoy a coffee from the cafe.
All those taking part will need a parent to complete an online permission form which can be found here.
Under 13’s must be accompanied by a responsible adult/parent/carer

Pub Walk
Start 7:30pm for ages 18+
Starting at The Sorrel Fox we’ll follow the River Soar to The Navigation Inn at Barrow-upon-Soar where there will be time for a drink or two before making our way to back to Mountsorrel and finishing at The Swan.

Wednesday 14th August

Mountsorrel-by-the-sea
11am-3pm for all ages
Venue: Christ Church, Rothley Road, Mountsorrel
A day of fun at our new ‘seaside’ resort – Mountsorrel-by-the-sea – for everyone of all ages. There will be a bouncy castle, crazy golf, games, sand-pit, paddling pool, fish and chips as well as ice-cream.
Don’t forget to bring your towel, swimming costume, picnic rugs & suncream.

Thursday 15th August

Children’s Cinema
10:30am for Children and their Families

Afternoon Tea at St Peter’s
2pm to 4:30pm
Venue: St Peter’s Church, Market Place, Mountsorrel
Whether you are coming for the tasty treats or the good company you will receive a warm welcome at our Cream Tea. We will do our best to cater for most dietary requirements, but we cannot guarantee that our food will be allergen free. Please speak with us if you have any concerns about this or any particular dietary requirements we need to be aware of. Although this event is free, we will be raising money for a local charity, Alex’s Wish, which aims to eradicate Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Your support and generosity would be gratefully received. Please note that ticket times are staggered to help avoid long waits/queues.

Quiz Night
7:30 onwards
Venue: Christ Church, Rothley Road, Mountsorrel
Our Thursday night quiz is open to everyone school age and above and we will have a mix of different rounds to put your knowledge, and best guesses, to the test. Come with your own team (team sizes not too important) or join a team on the night. Nibbles will be provided, you just need to bring your own drinks. Mastermind, Trivia, Picture Quizzes are just a few of the rounds with a special round just for the children.

Friday 16th August

Board Game Cafe
10 am to 12pm for all ages
Venue: Christ Church, Rothley Road, Mountsorrel
Come and join our regular Friday morning Coffee Morning where good coffee, cake and coversation are essential ingredients. This time, we will have a large selection of board games available for you to play with. There are games suitable for all ages as well as some giant games, so why not come along and try something new.

Under 5’s Soft Play
Choose from one of two sessions: 1:30pm – 2:30pm or 3pm – 4pm for 0-4 year olds and their parents/grandparents/carers
Venue: Christ Church, Rothley Road, Mountsorrel
Tots and pre-school aged children can enjoy an afternoon of soft play with their friends. Refreshments will be available for grown-ups whilst the little ones play. Continuing on from Messy Play, this year we have a jungle themed soft play.

Youth Build Your Own Pizza Night
6pm to 8pm for ages 11 to 25
Venue: Christ Church, Rothley Road, Mountsorrel

After rolling out your dough, you will have a choice of toppings to choose from to create a tasty pizza. There will be some time to chill and chat with friends before tucking into your creation.
Feel free to come alone or with friends.

Saturday 17th August

Muddy Church Taster
2pm to 4pm for all ages
Venue: The Orchard @ Christ Church, Rothley Road, Mountsorrel
Muddy Church is a place for people to gather together, outside and to connect with the space and God. We meet in the orchard behind Christ Church. Come prepared to get creative and explore nature themed activities whilst enjoying some treats around the fire. We’ll have crumpets and marshmallows to toast and plenty of hot chocolate to drink.

Music for a Summer’s Evening
7.30pm to 10pm
Venue: St Peter’s Church, Market Place, Mountsorrel
A concert of beautiful music perfect for a Summer’s evening. Watch this space for more information on the performers. Cheese & Wine will be served during the interval. Sunday 18th August

All Age Worship and Celebration
11am to 12:30pm for all ages
Venue: Christ Church, Rothley Road, Mountsorrel
A time to celebrate and thank God for all of the wonderful things that have happened over the week.
Our all age worship is a relaxed service where there is no expectation for people to sit and listen quietly. All of the songs and prayers are displayed on the screen for you, making it easy to follow. Our youngest visitors are welcome to sit and play on our play mat and a selection of toys are available to use during the service.
No tickets are required for this. Just turn up a few minutes before 11am and find a seat.


Community BBQ
12:30pm for all ages
Venue: Christ Church, Rothley Road, Mountsorrel
What could be better on a sunny summer afternoon than lighting the barbecue and enjoying a burger with some friends? Come and join us for our community barbecue in the gardens of Christ Church. In fact, why not join us for the All Age Worship first?

Evensong at St Peter’s
6pm to 7pm
Venue: St Peter’s Church, Market Place, Mountsorrel
Join us at St Peter’s for a service of Evening Prayer (Evensong) using liturgy from the 1662 Book of Common Prayer. This traditional service includes hymns that are usually led by a small choir. Whether you are new to Church or have been attending for many years, you will find that the words and music draw you close to the living God in worship and adoration.
No tickets are required for this. Just turn up a few minutes before 6pm and find a seat.




Curry Night (with a Chinese option)
Start at 7:30pm
Venue: St Peter’s Church, Market Place, Mountsorrel
Following the Evensong service at St Peter’s we will conclude our week of activities by sharing a meal together. The food will be provided by a local Indo-Chinese Restaurant so we are guaranteed to be in for a real treat.

Our young people have been busy creating art around the theme of community and these will be displayed throughout the week. We will be holding a silent auction if you see anything you like with all proceeds going to the young artict.
