New Wine – United Breaks Out

Normally some of us would be off to the New Wine United Conference at about this time of year. Sadly this year both national gatherings have been cancelled. Instead, the conference is going online under the heading of United Breaks Out. Watch the video to find out a bit more about how we are getting involved here in Mountsorrel:

United Breaks Out will run from the evening of Thursday 30th July through to Midday on Monday 3rd August. A full programme of events can be found here

Christ Church & St Peter’s Church to remain closed

The Parochial Church Council (PCC) of Christ Church and the PCC of St Peter’s Church both met this week on Friday 3rd July 2020 to consider the feasability of re-opening for public worship under the government’s guidlines which come into force on 4th July. After careful consideration, it was the view of both PCCs that, for the time being, we would not be able to open for public worship in a way that can safely accommodate all those who would like to attend. Therefore, both Church buildings will be remaining closed for both public worship and private prayer throughout the whole of July and August. The PCCs will be meeting again in August to give further consideration to the matter with a view to re-opening in September.

During the continued closure we will, of course, be continuing with our daily online services of Sunday Worship and Morning Prayer. Information on accessing these services can be found on the events & services page of our website. https://mountsorrelchurch.org/events/

We would like to thank the congregation and the community for their continue support of the church in these difficult and unprecedented times. As you can imagine, this has had an impact on our financial situation too and we would like to thank all those who have been able to contribute to the ongoing mission and ministry of the Church during the Covid pandemic. Further donations can be made by visiting our donation page. https://mountsorrelchurch.org/donate/

Easter Celebration Service

Watch our Easter Celebration service as St Leonard’s Church, Swithland joined with Christ Church & St Peter’s Church, Mountsorrel to celebrate the resurrection of our Saviour, Jesus Christ. The hymns have been missed out for copyright reasons. Please accept our apologies for the quality of sound on Reverend Colin’s microphone – we don’t really know what went wrong there. We were going to edit out the first five minutes of video, but found it such a joy to listen to, so we left it in. Enjoy.

Good Friday

On Good Friday, 10th April 2020, we would normally at St Leonard’s for an act of worship. This year, unable to meet in the Church, we met on Zoom to spend an hour before the cross. Enjoy our service of readings, prayer and silence.

Palm Sunday Worship

We were not able to gather together as usual for our Palm Sunday service, so we met as Church at Home via Zoom. This was a new experience for many of us and the results of our service are available for all to see:

Church Services Suspended

It is with great sadness that we have had to make the decision to suspend all Church events and acts of public worship (including Sunday services) until further notice.

However, this does not stop our worship of God. We can continue to pray, to find inspiration from Scripture, hymns and music on the internet. We can love and serve our neighbour and keep an eye out for those in need.

If you need help during this time of crisis, please send a message or contact Colin Resch on 0116 429 9946 and we will do what we can to assist you. Love and blessings.
