Come and Join Us

At the heart of who we are, is our worship of God, and we’d love to invite you to join us for one or more of our worship services. This coming Sunday 6th August both Churches will be open for worship and you would be most welcome to come along.

At St Peter’s Church, beginning at 9.30am, there will be a service of Morning Prayer (Matins) using the words of the Book of Common Prayer. This service will be led by Mr Gary Lee.

At Christ Church, beginning at 11am, there will be a service of Holy Communion led by Revd Colin Resch, the preacher being Mr Edmund Stacey.

Both services will be followed by free tea/coffee so do stay for a chat afterwards if you want to.

Our latest newsletter is now available

We have just published the August 2023 edition of our Church News and this is now available in our Churches and for download from our website. Just head to mountsorrelchurch.org/churchnews to find this and previous editions.

We hope you find it informative as it contains lots of information about our events and services that are coming up as well as items for prayer. In particular, we have included all the information about our Summer 23 week of activities taking place from 14 – 20 August. We do hope you will be able to join in with some of these events.

Greetings from Mbape

One of our Churchwardens, David, and his wife Karen recently visited the Church of St Michael’s and All Angels in Mbape – just on the outskirts of Harare, the capital of Zimbabwe. The service included some English included especially for their benefit. Musical accompaniement was by drum and maracas. Julius is the Rector and the service was taken by Rev Nyano the assistant priest. Attached to the Church is a large church-run school with 1200 pupils. Here are some of the congregation. Karen is pictured second from the left.

Hello & Welcome

I’m glad that you’ve found your way to our website. It would be great to meet with you in person and this Sunday, 30th July, presents the perfect opportunity.

At Christ Church, I will be leading our Sunday Worship service which begins at 11am.
At St Peter’s Church, I will be leading a service of Evensong, beginning at 6pm.

You would be more than welcome to join us at either or both of these services – even if you’ve not been to Church for a while, even if you’ve never been. Both services will be followed by free refreshments, so there will be plenty of opportunity to chat to one another afterwards. I hope to see you there.

With every blessing, Colin Resch.

Come and see what we’re about

It’s god that you have found our website, but we’d love to meet you in person. Why not join one of our Church services this weekend (23rd July).

At St Peter’s Church, starting at 9.30am, there will be a service of Holy Communion especially adapted for the whole family. We’d love to welcome you to the service and then share tea/coffee with you after the service.

At Christ Church, starting at 11am, there will be a service of Sunday Worship led by Helen Hodson. The preacher will be Mel Rowley.

Open Air Baptism

It was a real joy and privilege to formally welcome Logan into our Church family at his baptism on Sunday 9th July.

Together with his parents and godparents, he made his profession of faith during our All Age Worship service. The weather was great, so we stepped outside of the Church where our baptism pool was ready and waiting. After the water had been blessed, Logan took a deep breath and said goodbye to his old life and stepped into a life-long walk with Jesus.

Congratulations.

A warm welcome awaits

Welcome to our Church website. We hope it gives you a flavour of what our Church is like. But we’d love to welcome you in person to our Sunday Worship and we’ve got some great services planed for Sunday 9 July.

Our Sunday Worship on begins with a service of Holy Communion at St Peter’s Church starting at 9.30am. The service will use words from the 1662 Book of Common Prayer. After the service there will be refreshments served with opportunity for getting to know one another.

Then, at 11am, there will be All Age Worship at Christ Church which will include the baptism of Logan. Come and share with him in this important moment as he commits himself to following Jesus. Refreshments are available throughout the service and the atmosphere will be relaxed.

Later in the afternoon, we have something special for those of more senior years when we open the doors of St Peter’s Church once more for our Senior Sunday service and tea. A short service of worship beginning at 4pm will be followed by afternoon tea served in the Vestry.
